Multimedia and Platform Presentation Product
for Web and CD-Rom
Products Used:This product used Flash CS3, php5, xml, mysql, PHPMailer_v5,Zinc
Objective: As a flash developer DuRand Jones has been involved for a number of years with the building of a cross platform CD-Rom product. The product was built in AS2 and wrapped in Multidmedia’s Zinc product for delivery on CD to Windows XP, Vista and Macintosh Tiger and Leopard. The product had to perform the following: The shell must operate in such a manner that it can be used for multiple clients. Over 700 clients have had the newest version of this product used as the shell for the thie presentation product. Upon signing in on the CD - a letter was sent to the owner of the CD the name of the person signing in, the program was to check if there was an internet connection, read in a xml doc that contained all information needed for the CD to use to build the interface, CD program would present a flash animation presentation about the owner of the CD, would provide a video, audio testimonials, and up to seven tabs of text information which could include web site links, email links, and downloadable pdfs, there were also two entrances to communicate with the owner of the CD, the Tell A Friend option that would send a postcard out to a friend from the viewer of the cd and would also notify the owner of the CD that the postcard had been sent out, a Schedule An Appointment option, which would send a message to the owner of the CD from the viewer, There were pause, start, rewind buttons, a volume button and once the animation was viewed a contact page was the end landing site - with all options available even the availability of reviewing the animation again.
Multiple iterations of this product have been produced for the last 4 years. Customization for clients included adding the ability of having up to 10 animations play sequentially, multiple videos embedded in the animation, a French Canadian version and a spanish version. For French Canadian and Spanish scripts and voicing had to be sent to translators, email notifications had to be rebuilt so that they would be readable on French Canadian and Spanish email readers.
An online presentation was built as an add-on to the presentation product. It was built with some of the interactivity of the CD-Rom removed. Over 100 clients have added this on a part of their product purchase.
